Destination Wedding- Miami Beach

www.gotoflorida.net

If you are visiting Miami Beach in the near future or plan on visiting one day... Here are a few tips that will surely make your stay in Miami much more pleasurable; as well as affordable.
Tip #1: Book Ahead
This tip might be obvious to anyone who is a frequent traveler, but it is a crucial part of saving money and making your trip less stressful. Hotels in Miami Beach are usually booked well in advance and tend to be fully occupied -- especially during peak times of the year.
If you make your reservations at least four weeks in advance (or more) you can save a considerable amount of money on both flights and hotel rates.
Many hotels offer a % discount if you book early.
Why pay more for the same exact vacation when all you have to do is book ahead? Not only is it a crucial tip; it's also one of the easiest to implement.
Remember there so many sites that offer very cost effective hotels, but you can count on us to give you the real deal on the deal.
I recommend sites like Trip Advisor- read the reviews!
Tip #2: Location
When choosing a hotel in Miami Beach and an overall location, you must first determine what the main focus of your trip is going to be. If you are traveling on business, you will obviously want to stay somewhere that is relatively close to where your business meeting/convention is. Or you may want to find a Miami Beach hotel that has the best price; if your company is not paying for your lodging.
However, if you are coming to Miami for pleasure or vacation -- You will more than likely want to stay directly on the beach. There are many places to stay along the beach from North Beach all the way down to South Beach and then some.
Believe it or not from the Miami Airport- South Beach is no more than 15 minutes away and from Fort Lauderdale about 30-40 minutes.
You also want to watch for parking-the city has added several brand new parking lots-if you want to rent a car. If you want to just stay in South Beach then catch a cab, a bus or ride our Deco Bikes around.
Tip #3: Hotel Price
For some people, the price is the most important determining factor as far as which hotel in Miami they end up lodging in. There are many affordable hotel deals in Miami Beach, but personal preference is also a factor in my opinion.
Let's say you're comparing two different hotels that have similar rates; but one of them is directly on the beach, while the other is more in town. The prime choice would be the one on the beach of course, so price wouldn't necessarily be the ONLY factor in this decision.
The point is, you will want to find the place that has the most features and amenities, while also having the best price.
These three tips can help you decide where you want to stay and remind you of what the most important things to look for are when visiting a hotel in Miami Beach, Florida.

The Baby Shower!

It is funny how we do more weddings but we have Events in the name of our company. We get called all the time for Events, such as birthdays, baby showers, Bar Mitzvahs, but we LOVE weddings- and our unique location lends itself to a beautiful, sunny, elegant wedding.

But this time around it is a Baby Shower! And boy oh boy is she ready to pop! So the date was sooo important because the Holidays had just ended and the couple was nervous that their family and friends may not be able to fly to South Florida to share in their joy. AND.....
This was a very important baby shower to me because it was my daughter's and there was no way we were not going to have a baby shower that did not exemplify elegance and fun wrapped up into one.

She wanted elegant, nothing with BABY SHOWER in your face and everywhere you turned. She wanted beautiful colors but not obvious BOY BLUE or anything over the top. The location had to be original for those who do not reside in South Florida and for those who do.

I can tell you, that like many of our clients, my daughter had a vision, had an idea in her head, but when we showed her a blank slate of a venue she could not picture it completely. She trusted me and I was glad that she left it in my hands.

We took the colors from the actual elements that we were surrounded by- the green in the trees and grass and the turquoise from the ocean and sky.

As a centerpieces we also added hydrangeas in an ivory color and roses in a soft green color on a 8x8 vase. This sat on a beautiful pin tucked 120" round white table linen and white wood folding chair with organza tie sash.

The back drop of the ocean, the trees, the sky really made it POP! Wait until the rest of the photos come from our fantastic photographer Tatiana!

Bling on the Beach

So this wedding was held in front of the Loews Hotels in South Beach.  And who would not want to have their wedding on the beach. The elements lends itself to the magical moment.
My bride was a very modern bride, but also very private. She worried that there would be too many people on the beach, but I promised her that her wedding would not start until she was ready.

She enjoyed style and has a great flair. Her gown was by the goddess of wedding gowns- Vera Wang!
The groom wore a Hugo Boss suit and although he felt the beach heat, he was a pinnacle of style and looked great!
Her guest count was only immediate family for a grand total of 8.

When she first mentioned that she wanted the arbor with black and beige, I wanted to fall back in my seat.
Her fabulous brother and I looked at each other and recommended a tinge of color and suggested yellow.

They were coming down from Ohio and were having the reception in Emeril Lagassi restaurant in the Loews Hotels of Miami Beach.

The design is bamboo folding chairs, with satin sashes knotted sideways to keep with the modern theme. Of course, I had to throw in the bling and added circle rhinestone brooches to the sash.

The program was made on yellow linen paper with black satin ribbon and rhinestones on a rattan fan. Although the beach breeze was amazing and the fans were great for blocking the sun from our eyes.

The arbor is all natural bamboo, with black and beige linen material and the back with 40 strands of chandelier crystals.

We were able to tie in all the elements together and affect the five senses.

I am only a great wedding planner because I have great vendors!

Let me first start off with the vision- Parisian fashion chic. The colors were- black and white, with an infusion of fuchsia, pale pinks and gold.

You see, the devil is definitely in the details and for my bride, it is the vision, the dream, that she wanted and I was going to give it to her, because that is what I do- turn dreams into reality!

Further details- the linens had to be black and white striped- not damasked…stripes! And this is not the one you find at any linen store- as I learned. These are the ones you had to order special, because, well, it is a special item. The chairs had to be chivarei and had to be white with black cushions. The flowers had to be a blush pink. The cake had to be a 3 tiered cake, delicious and fashion forward.

You see the details make the difference-too much black would look like death and not a bridal shower, too much white might look like the wedding, and too much pink might look like a baby shower- well you get the idea.

Well the dream almost turned into a nightmare by UPS (United Parcel Service) - not to be confused with USPS (United States Post Office) but rather their competition. No competition here if you ask me.

Apparently the shipper placed the wrong zip code and the black and white striped specialty linens, although in Miami, had to be corrected to the correct zip code to match the address. No problem, right? WRONG- even though the UPS hub corrected the zip code at 7am in the morning of Friday, they now had to deliver it to the correct UPS hub in Hialeah? Wait, we are in Miami, not Hialeah. Okay, no problem-

ME: “At what time will they be delivered? UPS: “No, they won’t be delivered.”

ME: “WHAT!! “Can I pick them up? I am in Hialeah.” UPS: “No- they are closed”

ME: “Wait- it is Saturday, 2:00pm. How can you be closed on a Saturday? USPS is open on a Saturday???!!” UPS: “Sorry, nothing we can do.

ME: “Wait can’t we call the supervisor to open up? Who is going to open up now or tomorrow, Sunday? Who is going to have those specialty linens, which I ordered two weeks ago and now is here but locked in a trailer truck, why didn’t anyone call me on Friday, call the other 3 numbers given???”

As you see there is was about 3 hours of conversation of back and forth with supervisors and managers, all the while my staffs is calling our 100 + vendors for anyone who has these linens or know of anyone who does. No luck- no one is calling back…except for (insert Superman/woman theme here) Atlas Party Rental of Boynton Beach.

8:16AM in Sunday Morning- a text comes in saying “to the warehouse between 9am-11am, we may have them.”

Needless to say, I drove up there- and an hour and half later I met Carlos- who was not sure if that special linen was even there but allowed me to search the 12,000sq ft., warehouse of linens and there on the last rack, to the back, on the second row, was the “golden fleece” the specialty black and white 90” linen. PEOPLE- the party was exactly what my bride wanted!!! Once again I am an awesome Wedding Planner, but that is because I have an awesome vendor.

William, Nicole and the jars

What a fabulous day! After spending the day with one of my fabulous brides, Missy, I left to Micheal's craft store to get an apothecary jar.
While looking for the perfect one, I noticed a very pretty young lady, fabulously petite and slender, with long blonde hair and she was slightly frustrated on not being able to find two of kind jars and glass, for, what I later found out, candy station.
She mentioned that it was very annoying not being able to find the same jars, vases and glass and when she found a set, one of them was either missing a top or cracked. I sensed her disappointment and kept looking for a perfect jar, for another wedding I was planning, but I could not help but laugh when her fiance, William, who looked like a perfect match for his beautiful bride; seeing the shopping cart full with at least seven more jars of assorted shapes and size, asked in a very surprised tone, "how many do you need?". She said, "we have seven and we need more, because we have alot of candy." His next question was a typical question from a soon to be groom."How much is this going to cost?" And there is where I laughed out loud.
I immediately apologized and stated "you are getting married, right?" They answered yes and we began having a wonderful conversation of their plans for their big day.
They described the chuppah, the Miami Beach country club venue, the sour gummies, the assorted food stations they wanted; including a flambe station and so much more. They did voice some concern that their guests may have too much or too little but ask any wedding planner, you can never have enough, when you can; and after one hour, they stated that they were feeling so much better and were completely relaxed in the planning of their wedding. You are quite welcome, it is what I do... take that stress away!

PS.Nicole, remember, ask your florist to add the third set of candelabras for that romantic feel.

Starting from the begining of your marriage.. planning your wedding is the start!

This flower is found in two places- by volcanoes and by the beach of Hawaii.
You do you remember that exciting feeling  you had when the person you love just asked you if you will spend the rest of your life with them. How anxious were you when he proposed and when you said "YES!" The shocked look that was on his face. He thought you were going to say no and instead you said yes. Do you remember, before you started planning your elegant wedding, why you said yes? It is probably because you want to spend the rest of your life with him. And why do you want to spend the rest of your life with him?  You must respect him and his ideas, because he has great ideas- he did after all ask you to marry him. What a great idea!

During this time of planning when you have been unsure of what color or type of flowers you like and you are finding yourself changing your mind, often. You found yourself not being able to make up your mind on whether it should be a sit down or buffet style. So why have you not asked you fiance'? Have you tried asking your now fiance'? Yes, the same one who asked you to spend the rest of your life with him.

Now I understand that some decisions are based on what you can afford, but if you are not in that predictment and you cannot decide then seek your fiance's advise.

Believe it or not, your future husband and men in general, are pretty well equipped on making the final decision. Men also do not get bogged down to all the tiny details as we do. So their decision making will be broader and best in selection of  vendors, food and the drinks. The ceremony is for the bride but the reception is the party for the groom...at least that is what he thinks.

Most men will base their decision on something that will make his future wife happy. They seek that approval from you. Allow him to have input, encourage it, praise him for it and let him know how happy you are from it. Let him know you are glad that he is someone you can respect because he not just thinking of himself, but instead thinking of his future family. What you are doing here is encouraging participation, team work, a very strong sense that he is valued by one of the most important person in his life,YOU and he will want to continue to do it.

Now will you say Monica I have "tried" and he does not say anything or he brushes me off or you have received a negative response,I want you to try a technique called the Oreo cookie compliment. It is a method past on from woman to woman for generations and maybe it goes by a different name but the method you will recognize.

This method allows you to compliment him, then give the suggestion or ask the question etc.., and then add another compliment. Scenario " Honey you have a great eye for details, can you tell me which shade of pink is better, I am not sure and you are so good at seeing it".  Did you pick that up? Also remember to check yourself. Have you been the woman who constantly disagrees with whatever he suggests? Have you asked and then throw the suggestion to the way side? If you are guilty of this then you are only getting back what you have done. So stop it and start complimenting.

I was definitely guilty of that and reaped it big time. I have used the Oreo cookie compliment and it has worked and better yet he does it to me, but I get the compliment and the acknowledgement and more over the support and team work of my husband. I do not feel alone in all of the decision making. That burden is shared.

Men require respect and they require for their life mate to be the most supportive person in their life. Women, we require love, whatever love is for you. So you have to be their cheerleader so to speak. Once you start showing your appreciation, a wonderful thing will continue to happen. He will constantly and consistently do it and you will be stress free to plan your dream wedding. He WILL back you up, be supportive of you, because he REALLY wants to make you happy.

Key points to remember is- one- he is not your child, so don't treat him as such. Two- allow him to be human, he will make mistakes. Three- most decisions with the all information given, will probably be made with your happiness in mind.

When you listen and trust your future husband's decision for your wedding details you begin a wonderful process of working together. You have turned that I, ME or MINE syndrome to a WE, US,OUR syndrome. And is that not a better syndrome to have?

Beside his decisions cannot be all that bad. He did chose you to spend the rest of his life with.

Great decision dude...keep it up.

Although they are separated by circumstance when placed together they work in beautiful harmony!
